The movement is running, however it may require service soon. The dial has a brushed finish and appears quite clean, with only small marks in the 30-minute register. The case shows some light scuffs from wear. The numbers between the lugs are 6234 and 688566. The number on the inside of the case back is 6234. The monogram on the bracelet clasp is an intertwined LFA.

The 'Pre-Daytona' stands as the bridge between the vꦡintage chronographs of the 1930s-1950s and the more modern angular styling of the Cosmograph Daytonas.

As with the majority of earlier Rolex chronographs, the 'Pre-Daytona' generally featured a tachometer scale on its dial. With the launch of the first Daytona mod🌳el, Ref. 6239 (see lot 145), the tachometer scale was placed on the bezel.

The new Daytona models were also fitted with dials incorporating ✨a standard base color with differently colored subsidiary dials, whereas the 'Pre-Daytona' was fitted with a single tone silvered or black dial. The simple, classic design of the case, along with the elegance of the monochromatic dial, has made this watch very collectible in today's market.
