Condition

The panel is sound. Apart from two nailhead-sized spots of fluorescence towards the upper left corner, possibly retouching and visible under UV light, this work is in very good condition. Colours: The colours are slightly stronger, and the greens in particular more vibrant, in the original.

Painted in 1954, the present work was later inscribed 1969 on the reverse by Ernst at the time of its inclusion in the Hommage à Paul-Gustave Van Hecke exhibition of the same year.
