Condition

Executed on white wove paper not laid down, taped to the overmount along the top edge. There are some inscriptions to the reverse of the sheet. There are three lines of staining to the centre right, the largest of which is 2cm. in length. This work is in good condition.

Catalogue Note

The present watercolour closely relates to Paysannes des rames, painted in 1891 (see: L. R. Pissarro & L. Venturi, Camille Pissarro: Son art - son œuvre, Paris, 1939, no. 772). This theme first appe꧅ared in a fan-shaped pastel, dat𝓡ed 1890, now in the Ashmolean Museum.
