Condition

In generally good condition. Hinged to the mat at the top corners. The paper is somewhat time darkened overall. There are two thin lines, faintly lighter than the rest of the sheet, extending vertically from the bottom edge to roughly the middle of the work, one 6 inches in from right edge and the other eight inches in from the left edge. These appear to be old hard creases (visible fomr the verso) and the paper tone in these places has not darkened at the same rate. There are two small spots, just right of the blond girl's face, which are also lighter in tone than the rest fo the sheet. They do not appear to be losses. There is a scratch in the green pigment toward the bottom and a few flakes of loss in the red at right. The verso is time stained somewhat inconsistently, probably due to an old acidic mat. A few tiny tears along the edges. The gouache remains very vibrant and the pencil lines are strong.
