Condition
This painting has recently been restored and should be hung in its current condition. The canvas is lined. The paint layer is stable and has been cleaned, very lightly varnished and retouched. Over the years the gesso and canvas layer, which shows between the broad strokes of pigment in the sky, have noticeably discolored and retouches have been applied here and there to diminish and lighten this darkening and to provide a more sympathetic palette. There is no restoration in the landscape or darker colors generally and the retouches have been well applied. No further restoration is required and the painting should be hung as is.
