The Tourbillon Souverain Remontoir embodies F.P. Journe's passion for horological principles and techniques.  The constant-force remontoir is a supplementary energy source composed of springs or weights, supplying a constant force directly to the escapement via the going train and main power source.  The remontoir, thus acts effectively as a buffer to limit the effect of variances in power of the going train on the escapement. 

Born in March 1957 in Marseille, Francois Paul Journe enrolled at a Paris watch making school at the age of 16. Upon completion of his studies in 1976, he joined his uncle, Michel Journe, working in his antique clock and watch restoration workshop on Rue de Verneuil. In 1982, Journe created his first constant-force tourbillon pocket watch.

After setting up as an independent watchmaker in Paris in 1985, Journe spent four years restoring antique and developing new timepieces. In 1989, Journe opened a movement factory in Jura, in Switzerland. Journe's horological genius allowed him to work wtih the most famous retailers such as Asprey, Breguet, and Cartier. In 1995, Journe left his venture in the Jura and devoted the next four years to prepare his own first collection of chronometer signed F.P. JOurne Invenit et Fecit.

In 2001, Journe presented the world's first automatic calibre movement with a 120-hour power reserve indication, as well as the creation of eighteen unique Opus One watches, in partnership with Harry Winston. In 2002 and 2003 the Octa Calendrier and the Octa Calendrier and the Octa Luna were launched followed in 2005 by the famous Sonnerie Souveraine Wristwatch with Grade Sonnerie and the Chronometre Sourverain.

Today, the legacy of F.P.Journe endures as an industry leader, espousing a creative spirit and technical mastery in the art of watch making.
