Prospective purchasers are reminded that, unless the catalogue description specifically states that a stone is natural, we have assumed that some form of treatment may have been used and that such treatment may not be permanent. Our presale estimates reflect this assumption.

Catalogue Note
While the appeal of this one-of-a-kind geranium brooch is immediately apparent from the photograph, what remains a surprise is its incredible lightness due to the titanium mounting. When handling this brooch for the first time, it is apparent that it could be worn with ease on even the most delicate of fabrics. The advent of titanium in jewelry, a metal light, strong and non-tarnishing, allows for the designer to create in a new size and scale without concern for wearability.
It took over a year for Michele della Valle to manufacture this exquisite fantasy jewel. It is extremely difficult to work in titanium especially given the intricate detail in a work of this complexity. The mixture of titanium and 18 karat white gold as the stem meets the flowerhead increases the level of difficulty. As a finishing touch, the coloring of the titanium petals in a vibrant hue allows for a richness and intensity of color that rivals nature.
