Carved ruby and onyx 'rhinoceros' desk clock

Description
The carved ruby rhinoceros with gold horn and gold and diamond eyes, standing on an onyx platform rimmed in gold, bearing a gold clock on his back, decorated on either side with translucent red guilloché enamel, the face with gilt dot markers and hands, movement unsigned, height 4 inches, French export mark and maker's mark JB.
Condition
The lower rim is stamped with French export mark and maker's mark JB and a hammer for Braun or Bouchet. No name on movement which is electro-mechanical with a cell battery, made around 1950 before the appearance of quartz watches, therefore clock probably dates from around that time. Presently working. See Notice Regarding Condition of Watches on page 368 of the catalogue. The ruby rhino is opaque, the onyx is intact and the pieces is in overall good condition.
