Of geometric form, set at the centre with an hexagonal emerald flanked with two shield-shaped diamonds and calibré-cut emeralds, further decorated with millegrain-set circular-cut stones and black enamel detail, to the pear-shaped diamond drop,
Condition
Metal tested as platinum. Central emerald, light colour saturation, typical crystal inclusions (some reaching surface), some abrasion to facet edges. Pear-shaped diamond measuring approximately 12.10x8.25x4.8mm (gauged in mounting), estimated to weigh approximately 2.80 carats, G colour, VS2 clarity, in our experts' opinion. The rest of the diamonds generally H-J colour, VS-SI clarity. The pear-shaped diamond may have been subsequently added; Minor chips to enamel (mainly around pendant attachment). Minor scratches to metal, signs of normal wear commensurate with the age of the piece. Overall well preserved, in good condition.

The firm E.M. Gattle was founded in New York in the nineteenth century by Emanuel Gattle. Located on Broadway in the theatre district, Gattle was well-established by the turn of the century, and in 1907 they opened a new store on Fifth Avenue at 38th Street. This was a prime location as they has a number of famous clients among the opera and theatre stars, such as Enrico Caruso, who even allowed the firm to use his name and photograph in their advertising
