Federico Borromeo (1564-1631) was made a cardinal by Pope Sixtus V in 1593, when he was only twe🌺nty-three, and Archbishop of Milan on 24th April 1595. He followed the example of his elder cousin, San Carlo Borromeo, in promoting the discipline of the clergy, founding churches and colleges at his own expense, and applying everywhere the reformed principles laid down by the Council of Trent. He i💎s most notable for his efforts to feed the poor of Milan during the great famine of 1627-28.
