Condition
The canvas has been recently relined. The paint surface is secure if a little abraded in the background. Inspection under UV light reveals some retouchings. Offered in a carved wood frame with some knocks.

Catalogue Note
The sheet of music is by the popular musician, poet and playwright Henry Carey (circa 1687-1743), who wrote the opera Signor Carini in 1741. It is possible that Carey was the author of the English National Anthem.
