Description
- François de Nomé called Monsù Desiderio
- The martyrdom of a female saint
- oil on canvas
Condition
The canvas has a quite recent relining. There are numerous scattered damages throughout, the largest being to the upper right (8cm), to the upper centre (29 and 27cm), to the lower centre (6x4cm) and to the upper right (4x2cm). The paint surface, which is covered in a thick layer of dirt and discoloured varnish, is otherwise in quite good condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals some quite extensive retouchings to the more thinly painted tones most of which have slightly discoloured, the more thickly painted areas are better preserved.
Offered in a later wood frame in good condition.
