Condition

This early print, on warm-toned carte-postale stock, is in generally excellent condition. When examined in raking light, age-appropriate silvering is visible in the dark areas of the print, as well as tiny deposits of original retouching. There is very faint, light soiling in the margins.

Catalogue Note

Taken at the home of an artist friend who had a collection of African sculptures, this image was included in Kertész's first Paris exhibition at the Au Sacre du Printemps gallery in 1927.
