Condition

Illustration is NOT accurate: the central red ground on the illustration is actually a Havana brown. Several minor dark stains on the central medallion. Otherwise, the other colours are quite fine. Except this main fact, the carpet has been commissioned directly by Mr Léon Lévy to furnish his drawing room. It has been woven on purpose about fifteen years ago, designed from various Louis XIV patterns of Savonnerie carpets made for the Grande Galerie du Louvre. This carpet is in really good condition and can be displayed immediately. Again, as already said, the main point is the colour around the central cartouche (images are available on request).

Catalogue Note
