Illustration is accurate. Porcelain with minor cracks and chips to the feather. Old restorations to the tails and the beaks. A few chips to the porcelain flowers and to the wheat. The gilt bronze is fine but the bases were probably associated. Please note that the birds are in average condition with old restorations and that there are refreshments to the gilding. Nevertheless, these birds are an attractive and decorative pair of candelabra.

Ce modèle en porcelaine, "Fasan und Fasanhenne mit drei Jungen", a été réalisé par Johann Joachim Kändler à Meissen vers 1735 en grandeur nature (certains exemplaires sont illustrés dans C. Albiker, Die Meissener Porzellantiere im 18 Jahrundert, édition de 1935, planche XX, n° 63-65 et édition de 1959, planche 82-85 et M. Newman, Die Deutschen Porzellan- Manufacturen im 18. Jahrundert, vol. 1, page 98, fig. 94) puis a été copié à Chelsea vers 1750 (voir F. Severne Mackenna, Chelsea Porcelain, the raised anchor wares, p. 34, fig 69).
D'autres paires de candélabres composés de ces figures de faisans sont connues, l'une d'elles provenant de l'ancienne collection F. Gould a été vendue chez Sotheby's à Monaco les 25-26 juin 1984, lot 755 ; elle est reproduite dans P. Kjellberg, Objets montés du Moyen Age à nos jours, Paris, 2000, p.99.
