Condition
Work is mounted in a temporary exhibition frame, against foam backing and wrapped in clear vinyl. There are scattered visible wrinkles due to the mounting method but the work itself is not creased. The paper shows moderate yellowing due to its age, but the work is generally in good condition.

Catalogue Note
Chen Ting-Shih was born in Fu Jian Province. He studied under the guidance of his Art master. At the age of 17, Chen was influenced by the art of Xu Beihong and since than has dedicated his career as an artist. In 1959, he became a member of "Chinese Modern Art Association" and started to create woodcut prints. In the same year, his abstract prints were chosen to exhibit at "The Second Modern Prints Exhibition" as well as engaging his first participation to the 5th Sao Paolo International Biennales. Five years later he moved to live in Michigan, USA where he was exposed to American modern art. Chen passed away in 2002 in Taipei. He is best known for his woodcut prints series "Day and Night".
