  • walnut, leather and rope

Literature

Novita, Milan, May 1958, n.p.

Condition

Overall a superb example of the form, showing scratches, nicks and minor dings to the frame consistent with age. The original leather surface and ropes are in very good condition. The leather seat and seat back with some very slight markings and two areas of abrasions measuring less than one inch in diameter. One appears the result of contact with the frame and folding hardware. The grommets with signs of corrosion which has stained approximately one inch of the adjacent rope. The rope with some contemporary modifications of tape to the ends, but rope is original. There is one small crack to the outer frame of the seat back adjacent to the joint hardware, which appears old and stable. Very minor white paint residue to the seat back. Both the leather and the wood have acquired a beautiful with age. A superb example of a rare Ponti chair form. This chair is being sold with a certificate of authenticity from the Ponti archives and a foundation tag has been applied to the chair.
