Provenance

Sotheby's New York, November 22-23, 1991, lot 667

Condition

Overall in very good condition. There are a few missing glass cabochons to the set (three missing on one blotter end; one central cabochon missing from the note pad holder; and one missing from the calendar frame). The are scattered losses to the black enameled reserves delineating the pattern on some of the components. With what appears to be the original paper (or very old paper) still intact in the note pad holder, and the original heavy-stock paper boards in the calendar frame. The red blotter paper with a few black ink stains. The inkstand with a clear glass inkwell liner (possibly replaced) with a small and minor surface crack to the rim. A large and extensive representation of items from this desk set pattern, which presents beautifully in person and would make for a spectacular desk display.
