Condition

Overall in very good condition. This ceiling fixture (en suite with lot 421) was removed from its original residence in the 1970s and appears to remain in remarkable original condition, retaining all of its original bronze hardware, chains, glass prisms and socket cluster. There are approximately 8-10 cracks to the glass dispersed throughout the shade. There are no visible cracks to the central turtleback tile or glass jewels. With some occasional small and minor edge chips and flecks to the glass prisms. Some of the small patinated bronze balls suspended from the chains are slightly indented and irregular. All of the metal S-shaped hooks which suspend the prisms are intact, and as expected many are slightly bent and irregular. The shade is suspended by four patinated bronze chains which are supported by small hooks on the interior rim of the shade—these hooks are slightly bent and irregular. The leaded glass shade is slightly more yellow and less saturated than seen in the catalogue illustration, transitioning from the center from pale yellow to more saturated yellow mottled with tonalities of orange and red orange. When non-illuminated and seen in certain light conditions, the iridized glass prisms display intense luminous color. A spectacular example of this rare ceiling fixture in remarkably well-preserved condition. The fixture presents beautifully in person and has great scale and presence.
