base impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK- leaded glass, favrile glass and patinated bronze
- with a rare "Favrile Glass Ball" telescopic base and finial
Provenance

Condition
Overall in very good condition. There are approximately 10-12 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the shade, and one tight hairline crack to one of the amber cabochons. The favrile glass ball base is in exceptional condition. All of the iridized glass balls appear to be original and undisturbed, and display very nice color and luminescence. As expected, there is some subtle variation to the iridescence on the glass balls, with minimal gentle wear and some occasional light surface abrasions. A few of the glass balls have very miniscule surface flecks which are exceedingly minor. The patinated bronze surfaces of the base with some occasional light surface scratches and rubbing to the patina. The underside of the base plate with traces of old sticker adhesive. With period sockets, switches, and matching favrile glass ball finial. The iridized surface on the glass ball mounted in the finial is slightly irregular, which appears to be inherent in the making from the application of the iridescence. A superb example of this rare base design in remarkably good condition. The patina on the bronze base is a rich russet brown and green, and is richer and more vibrant than in the catalogue illustration. The shade displays good color variation and mottling to the glass, and presents beautifully with the base.
