Description
- Tiffany Studios
- A Superb Eighteen-Light "Lily" Table Lamp
- base impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK/1063 and with the Tiffany Glass & Decorating Company monogram
- favrile glass and patinated bronze
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The lily shades are an incredibly well-matched set, showing great consistency in form, color and decoration. The shades are in excellent condition. All of the top apertures of the shades are in very good condition, with no visible edge chips. One shade has two small scorch marks on the interior near the bottom aperture (presumably from heat exposure), and has a light diagonal surface scratch on the exterior (approximately 2 inches long). One of the bronze floriform bobeches is slightly loose and turns on its stem (but is entirely stable and supportive of the glass shade). The bronze surfaces on the base show minimal gentle wear and rubbing to the patina, with some light surface soiling to the recessed contours. A few of the bronze floriform bobeches with some light surface scratches and minor abrasions to the patina. The bronze stems are beautifully composed and stable to the base; some of the vertical segments of the stems are slightly irregular and subtly bent above the base. With period bakelite switch. The shades appear more root beer in color and slightly less red than in the catalogue illustration, and appear very luminescent from their iridized interiors. A stunning example distinguished by its exquisite set of decorated shades and early base design

Catalogue Note
This lamp is distinguished by its exceptional set of decorated "lily" shades, which exhibit translucent red amber trumpets accentuated by swirling white stems and intense iridescence on the interior. Each shade is exquisitely ruffled, adding further to its naturalistic character. This example's thin bronze stems distinguish it as a particularly early example of the model.
