Condition

Overall in very good condition. There are approximately 10-12 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the shade. There is some minor leading separation adjacent to the top row of geometric tiles directly below the top aperture ring, with a few small associated fractures to the leading. This separation is stable, and is apparent around approximately half the perimeter of the top aperture. (Leading separation in this location is very common on Tiffany lamp shades and is typically the result of the weight of the shade pulling down over time from the top ring). Owing to this lamp's extraordinary original family provenance, all of its components have originated together from the time the lamp was acquired in the period and display a very consistent patina. The base, socket cluster, riser, wheel, finial and pull chains are all original to the lamp. The base is in very good condition, with some occasional light surface scratches and minimal gentle wear. A beautiful example of this desirable tulip model, displaying an incredibly well-varied and artistic glass selection, most notably in the exquisite glass articulating the red tulip flowers, and the luminescent sky blue background glass. The glass shows far great subtleties and variation when seen in person than in the catalogue illustrations, and exhibits a great sense of depth and movement. The patina on the base and shade leading is exceptionally rich, displaying vibrant tonalities of russet red and green. Please note that a period photograph showing this lamp in situ in the original family's residence can be viewed on our website.
