Condition

The canvas is not lined. There is some shrinkage in the black pigments. Apart from an intermittent line of retouching along the edges, this work is in good condition.

On trouve une intensité curieuse dans ce tableau. Les vases sont en alerte, animés de formes, remplis de vie et silencieux, mais avec une ambiguïté formelle et spatiale.

There is an intensity about this painting. The vases are alert, animated forms, pregnant with life and quietly stated but absolute ambiguities of form, space and light.
