Unexamined out of frame and under glass, the canvas seems to be original—It is housed in a very elaborate frame, almost a shadow-box, and we would have to dismantle the whole frame to see the back of the canvas. There appear to be no signs of inpainting under UV inspection. Apart from some very minor craquelure along the upper extreme right edge, where impasto has strained over the stretcher, this work is in very good condition, with a strong surface and rich tones, and ready to hang. Held in a simple, narrow, unvarnished wood frame held within a simple, cream-painted shadow-box frame, under glass.
