Overall, these are in good restored condition with a waxed surface. The hardware is most likely not original. The tops and sides of both have numerous old nailholes, some of which have been infilled. Both chests have multiple old marks and scratches throughout. The chest in the back (as arranged in the catalogue image), has slight separation at the lines of construction on top. The latch is slightly loose but complete with small losses to the top at the join. There are possible small replacements to the inlaid veneers on the interior. There is slight warpage to the base with usual age cracks and shrinkage. The chest in the front (as arranged in the catalogue image), also has separation at the lines of construction on top with minor thin age cracks. The latch has a loss to the right side, approve. 3 in. in length. The front left corner of the top, has two age cracks which are slightly loose. There are possible small replacements to the inlaid veneers of the interior as well as slight warpage to the base with small age cracks and shrinkage. The inlaid stringing to the font panel has small losses, minor lifting and in-filling. There are also minor age cracks to the right side panel.
