Description

Designed as a ladybird, the coral body studded with eight circular-cut diamonds, the head and feet set with black lacquer and single-cut diamonds, signed Cartier Paris, French assay and maker's marks, pochette.

Literature

Cf: Catalogue for the exhibition at the Petit Palais Museum, The Art of Cartier Jewellery, Paris, 1989-1990, page 157, plate 469 for an illustration of a very similar brooch dated 1936.

Condition

Signed Cartier Paris. Signs of normal wear to clip: some lacquer loss to head and feet and minor scratches and dents to coral noticeable under close inspection, not when worn, two diamonds chipped, scratches to metal, all commensurate with age and wear. Attractive brooch. In good condition.
