Catalogue Note
Filippo Chiappe (1863-1936) trained as a jeweller in his nativ🌠e city of Massa, Italy, and continued to perfect his skills in Algiers and Paris. He eventually returned to Genoa and founded his♐ own company in 1885.
His production of highly sophisticated jewels for the Raggio Spinola wedding in 1907 made him famous throughout Eur𒊎ope. He was one of the first European jewellers to visit South America, and counted numerous wealthy Argentineans as clients.
Chiappe was appointed one of the official purveyors to the Royal Italian Court in 1913. He designed for the Crown Prince Umberto (the future King Umberto II) a beautiful diamond necklace known as the "Nodo di Savoia", which the Prince presented to his fiancée Marie-José of Belgium in 1930.🤡𝓡
He opened shops in Rome,ဣ Milan and Paris between the two World Wars. The company exists to this day, and is run by Filippo's great-nephew Giorgio Fiori and his two sons, Massimiliano and Filippo.
