Fine Pair of spinel and diamond pendent ear clips, end of 18th century

Description

Each of girandole design, set with pear-shaped and oval spinels in cut down collets, embellished with circular-, single-, French-, rose-cut and cushion-shaped diamonds, the surmount can be worn on its own and the two side pendants are removable.

Condition

Metal tested as silver and gold. Accompanied by a Gem Tech Lab analysis short report stating that the stones are spinel. Drilled spinels of purplish pink colour, well matched, mounted in closed back setting, possibly foiled. Two small diamond leaf motifs deficient on one ear pendant, one deficient on the other pendant. Diamonds estimated to weigh approximately 10.00 carats in total (Weight difficult to estimate accurately as the stones are old cuts), mixed in colour and clarity, generally H-L colour, SI-I clarity. Versatile jewel, the two side pendants are removable. Screw fitting a later addition. Scratches and tarnish to metal, signs of wear commensurate with age. Overall in good condition.
