Catalogue Note
The firm M. Gérard was founded at 8 avenue Montaigne in Paris in 1968 by Louis Gérard, formerly of Van Cleef & Arpels. It quickly flourished and became the largest exporter of fine jewels from France by 1975. This success led to the opening of several boutiques, including Monte-Carlo, Lausanne, Gstaad, London, Geneva and Cannes during the years 1968-1978. The firm closed in 1985, but Gerard started a company under the 'Louis Gerard' trademark in 1987 at 16 avenue Montaigne, until closing its doors forever in 1991. Gérard jewels are famous for their quality craftsmanship, outstanding gemstones and sleek designs.
