Yellow gold, opal, emerald, sapphire and diamond bracelet, 19th century, composite

Description

The open work oval plaque set with an oval sapphire, pear-shaped cabochon opals, square- and circular-cut emeralds and cushion-shaped diamonds, embellished with yellow gold brushed foliate scroll motifs and cannetille work, 1820s, to a later strap, length approximately 150mm.

Condition

Metal tested as gold. Sapphire of medium colour saturation, with small inclusions only to be seen with a 10x lens, some abrasions. Opals well matched, play of colour predominately in green and red, with some scratches and abrasions. Emeralds well matched in colour, with typical crystal inclusions, some surface reaching, not visible when worn, some nicks and abrasions. Scratches and tarnish to the metal commensurate with age and use, back of one link damaged but not noticeable when worn. In overall good condition.
