Realistically designed as a peacock feather set with variously cut emeralds, French-cut sapphires and rubies, highlighted with circular-, single- and rose-cut diamonds, to a flexible stem, mounted in silver and gold, signed Mellerio, Paix, French assay and maker's marks.

Condition

Ruby of Burmese origin cannot be imported into the US. This piece may contain ruby of Burmese origin and therefore may not be able to be imported into the US. Certification of non-Burmese origin will be required before import of jadeite or ruby into the US. Please see our Important Notices and contact the jewellery department for further information. Signed Mellerio Paix representing the address of the Mellerio jewellery shop at 9 Rue de la Paix where they still have their premises today. Hinged pendant at the back on the centre element of the feather which can be detached from the frame and to be worn as a pendant. Some of the barbs on the feathers are articulated. Diamond weight difficult to asses as the stones are old cuts but estimated to weigh be approximately 6.00 carats in total, mixed in colour and clarity. Pear-shaped emerald gauged to measure approximately 11.7 x 8.8 x 5.7 mm, estimated to weigh approximately 3.10 carats, medium colour saturation, some typical crystal inclusions (a few reaching surface), minor nicks and abrasion to facet junctions. Rubies and sapphires bright and lively colours, a few chips, minor nicks and abrasion to facet edges. Tarnish and scratches to metal commensurate with age and wear. Well preserved and rare piece. In good condition.
