Condition
The painting is cooler in tone and with more body than the catalogue illustration suggests. The canvas has been lined. The paint surface is secure, with minor scattered infilled losses, and under a discoloured varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals minor scattered retouchings along the aforementioned losses. Overall in fair condition and offered in a carved and gilt wood frame.

Catalogue Note
The composition is closely related to Guardi's Christ at the Pool of Bethesda1. There are however some differences in the background detail through the arch and, in the present work, the grave in the foreground has been removed.
