The paintings are slightly warmer in tone than the catalogue illustration suggests. The supports consist of single wooden panels which are flat and stable. The view of San Marco has a horizontal crack of 15 cm running centre right whereas the view of San Giorgio has two small cracks centre right. All these can be seen from the recto. The paint surfaces are sound and under yellowed varnishes. Scattered retouchings which have discoloured are visible to the naked eye. Although some retouchings do flouresce, the varnish impedes satisfactory inspection under UV light. Both are offered in fine carved and gilt wood frames.
