Condition
Unexamined out of frame and under glass, the sheet is in good condition. This work is in good condition, with strong colours and fine detail. Held in a simple, gold-painted moulded plaster and wood frame with a cream mount with gold edges, under glass.

Catalogue Note
Werner studied at the Leipzig Academy and in Munich, travelling to the Middle East from 1862-4 and again in 1875. He exhibited in London from 1860 to 1878, once at the Royal Academy and at the New Watercolour Society, of which he became a member.
