Catalogue Note
Painted in 1880, this charming portrait of the artist's daughter Marie-Louise aged six epitomises Munier's paintings of children, which clearly take their cue from the artist's teacher, William Bouguereau, the doyen of neo-classical painting in the second half of the nineteenth century.
