Condition
The canvas has been re-lined. There are scattered areas of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably to the background between the heads of the figures, and to the lower left corner. Apart from a repair at the centre of the canvas (patched on the reverse), scattered craquelure and stretcher marks to the centre and the lower and left edges, this work is in good condition, with rich tones and fine detail.
