Condition

Original canvas. There are spots of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably to the upper edge of the canvas and to the left of the left horse, with craquelure infilling to the dark pigments of the horses and a varnish applied over them. Apart from scattered hairline craquelure, in the dark brown pigments of the horses and the white and light blue to the left, the work is in good condition, and is ready to hang. Held in a wide, elaborate, gold-painted canvas.
