SURFACE: in fairly good condition; a couple of scratches at left; scattered tiny losses throughout sky and a few in sea as well; surface looks dirty--with tiny dark spots, stains throughout--could use a cleaning UNDER ULTRA VIOLET: painting had been restored with a heavy hand at some point--several areas, large spots of inpainting throughout--would say about 35 % of painting has been retouched; largest area is about 8 by 6 in. at far right, center and downwards; ship is relatively clean--there is inpainting, but it's confined to the middle area of the ship's hull with a few strokes extending to first and second deck
