the head emerging from a massive cabriole support sheathed in acanthus leaves, with gaping jaws and thick shaggy mane, later drilled for use as a water-spout.

English private collection, acquired prior to 1940

Condition

Side shown in much the same condition as side not shown, head was drilled through for reuse as a water spout, now missing iron pipe must have caused rust marks over much of surface, remains of modern paint visible overall.
