Description

with broad base and convex sides, the shallow domed cover with stepped rim, inlaid with silver, decorated all over with a diaper of floral rosettes, the cover with a central lotus medallion encircled by a concentric band of scrolling flowering stems, further minor bands of floral scroll to the rim and base

Catalogue Note
A pandan box of almost identical form is in the Victoria & Albert Museum that was acquired by Major Murdoch Smith from the Richard collection in Tehran (Stronge 1985, p.54, no.17).
