Description
- metal
with a straight double-edged watered-steel blade, the hilt with leather-covered grip and teardrop form quillons, the faceted tapering pommel inlaid with silver inscriptions, the leather-covered wood scabbard with two metal suspension mounts
Condition
Fine overall condition, light darkening and oxidation marks, some pitting and unevenness to edges of sword, minor losses and some decay to the leather of the scabbard, as viewed.

Arabic benedictory inscriptions (not all deciphered) signed as:
'Work of 'Abdallah bin Ghabish (?)'
It is very unusual to find an Omani sword of this kind with an inscription. A sword of similar form, although lacking an inscription, was sold in these rooms 1 April 2009, lot 151.
