  • Gouache on Paper
Ink and pencil on paper, with some use of gouache heightened with gold, the larger depicting a seating elderly figure leaning against a large bolster wearing a jewelled turban, the small with a standing figure leaning on his sword amid a foreground of flowers, each laid down on an album page, the larger with outer borders decorated with scolling flowers in gold, the smaller ruled in red, with outer silk borders

Provenance

Formerly in the collection of Sir Claude Aurelius Elliot OBE, headmaster of Eton from 1933-49 and Provo�𒐪�st from 1949-65.

Condition

Both miniatures in overall good condition, some slight fading and creases, otherwise clear and crisp drawing, as viewed.
