Condition

Canvas has been relined. there is overall very good retention of the paint surface with lovely detail. there is some slight thinness in the silver object in the background to the left of the porcelain vase. colors remain fresh. examination under ultraviolet reveals retouching on and around aforementioned silver object over what appears to be an old repaired puncture. another larger area of retouching can be seen in the background to the right of the vase and a bit on the right edge of the vase. other small inpaints are visible throughout the dark background and a few on curtain. the still life elements for the most part look very good with very little in the way of retouching. there is no need for further work and paintng, which presents a rather grand image, can be hung in its present state. In a black wood frame with gilt inner trim.
