Condition
The canvas has been relined. The picture presents a strong image. To the naked eye it appears dirty, and the painting could benefit quite well from a cleaning. Under UV there is an older varnish which has been applied somewhat broadly. There have been some retouches applied to the hair, as well as in the eyes and lips, but this is not overwhelming. There are also some retouches applied to the border of the canvas, which are visible to the naked eye, which could be addressed in any possible future cleaning. Depsite the retouches visible under UV, the picture presents a strong image and is in overall nice state. In a carved and giltwood frame with some minor losses to the gilding around the edges of the frame.
