Condition
Overall in very good condition. This lamp has documented provenance dating back to 1959 (see provenance in catalogue description), and the shade and base by all accounts have originated together. The shade with approximately 15 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, and with considerable surface soiling, especially along the contours of the shade leading. The patinated bronze base with gentle rubbing and some surface soiling to the recessed contours, consistent with age and gentle use, and with a few minute areas of patina loss along the perimeter contours of the cushion base. The patinated bronze base switch appears to be original and undisturbed. All of the base components and exterior socket casings appear original and undisturbed (the socket interiors were recently updated for safety). With replaced modern finial with matching patina to base. The underside of the base retains an old paper label with pencil inscription documenting the Sloane’s 1959 provenance (see catalogue description). The shade and base present beautifully together as a unit, representing the ideal pairing for this elegant model.
