Description

- "Poppy" Table Lamp
- shade impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 1581
base impressed TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK/531 - leaded glass and patinated bronze
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The shade with less than 6 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout, and with light surface soiling to the recessed contours of the reticulated bronze overlays articulating the poppy blossoms. The rendering of the shade leading and reticulated bronze overlays are very finely executed, displaying a deep rich russet brown and green patina. The patinated bronze base with some light rubbing and occasional surface scratches to the patina, surface soiling, and some scattered areas of discoloration consistent with age and use. All of the base components and switches appear original and undisturbed; one of the four paddle switches appears to have been replaced many years ago. With period finial. An attractive and unusual example of the model articulated with an icy blue background glass that is intensely mottled, and with flower blossoms showing a wide color range of bright orange, yellow orange, yellow, yellow green, and orange green.
