Catalogue Note

It is Abrahm-Louis Breguet who first invented the tourbillon in 1801 in order to eliminate errors of rate due to the gravity. It consists of a mobile carriage or cage carrying all the parts of the escapement, with the balance in the centre. Among the Tourbillon function, the present lot appears to demonstrate most of Breguet's emblematic signature: blued steel hands, guilloché engine-turned dial, brushed chapter ring with numerals, coin-edge band and secret signatures at 1 and 11 o'clock.
