Condition

Executed on cream wove paper, not laid down, attached to the mount in all four corners and at the centre of the right edge. There is a perforation line running parallel to the right edge, which has been detached towards the upper and lower edges and several binding holes to the right edge, intrinsic to the nature of the support. There is a thin paper remnant attached to the right edge, which derives from the subsequent sheet of the original sketch book. The pink pigment visible in the catalogue image derives from the artist's handwriting on the verso. There is a 0.5 cm tear and a further associated minor nick to the centre of the left edge. Apart from some minor handling marks and light time staining to the extreme edges of the sheet, this work is in good condition. Colours: Overall accurate, although the pencil line is slightly stronger and the paper tone is slightly warmer in the original.
