Condition

The canvas is strip-lined. There are two very small repaired tears with associated retouching and some further specks of retouching in the lower right quadrant. There are a few very small areas of retouching at intervals along the edges, probably due to frame rubbing, and further specks of retouching near the left tree, on the centre bush and in the curve of the hill. All retouching is visible under UV light. Apart from some light surface dirt, this work is in good condition. Colours: The palette is more luminous in the original than in the printed catalogue; The yellows are overall much stronger and brighter and the hills, foreground and sky are greener.
