Catalogue Note

In 1964 Professor McNeill and his colleagues from the University of Chicago asked Henry Moore if he would execute a sculpture on the campus to commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the first self-sustaining nuclear chain reaction, acheived in a laboratory at the university on 2nd December 1942. The present work is a maquette of the larger cast🍒 installed in Chicago.
